Safari Reader - more than meets the eye

This morning I was getting ready to read an article in Safari 5.0 and decided to give the new Reader function a shot.  Once the page loaded and the reader button came available, I clicked on it and saw the nice callout displaying the article.  However, as I was reading I noticed the scrollbar continued to shrink as if more content was being loaded.  I didn't think much of it until I finished reading the article and noticed reader displaying a "Page 5 of 5".  Yep the article was page 1 of 5 and Reader had loaded all the subsequent pages into the same callout allowing me to avoid the infuriating habit of news sites to break-up an article for more ad impressions.  Good going Apple with this great feature of Safari Reader.

Back from the wild

ouchieSo, it has been a couple of weeks since I've really posted anything to my blog.  Apparently it was harder coming down to earth (i.e. realworld) then i thought.  I've been trying to distract myself with various projects.  I've purchased a IGEPv2 board as a carputer for my truck which I'm rebuilding.  It has been a long process trying to do it from Memphis and while in Medical school but this summer looks promising for getting it running for the first time in about 10 years.  Wow, it's been a long time.

Anyway, I'm currently working on building Android for it.  I'm using the HTPC I built over Christmas (runs a Core i7 860) so the builds are very fast.IGEPv2 with case

My second toe still has a bruise from the hike.  It looks quite lovely.  Doesn't hurt or anything but it will be a while until it heals.

Now that I'm getting back into the hospital setting and studying along those lines, I've been able to enjoy some really beautiful sun rises.

Well, I'll post some more pictures of my projects later, but for now, enjoy the picture of the IGEPv@ and what will become it's case :)

What time is it?

It is really wired being so busy that the only time I realize it is almost Christmas is when I goto Church on Sunday and we sing Christmas hymns. One more week of classes and then exams.

After that, oh yeah, it's Christmas.

By the way, did you know that if you get a really bad ear infection it is possible to loose some of your taste sensation. Also, loosing your sense of smell and not realizing it can make life seem really dull and not enjoyable. Along those lines, did you realize that you don't normally smell something unless you "sniff." Yes, sniffing has a purpose. It gets the smell up to your olfactory nerve endings in the roof of your nose right between your eyes. :)

Now just so that you don't think . . .

that med school is all bad. Here are some names I had to memorize for exams next week.

Hedgehog, sonic hedgehog, indian hedgehog, and bone morphogenetic protein families are inducer molecules that cause cell differentiation through spatial signaling.

I wrote that statement and might have gotten it all wrong but it was sure fun memorizing those names. Especially thinking of the little cartoon character that in the video game (Sonic Hedgehog). I wonder how that inducer molecule got it's name. :-)

About Me . . .

Ok, so I guess I should write a little about me. Hum, so where should Ipopup start?

I guess the best place to start is my faith. I became a follower of Jesus Christ at the age of 5 and was baptized soon afterwards. If you want to know why I chose to follow Christ, take this test, follow these steps and you'll come to the same conclusion. Since then, I've been learning more each day what it means to follow Christ and have been growing in the faith, hope and love of my Lord.

Everything else about me is superfluous. I'm currently a medical student (pic) at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine supported by the U.S. Navy Health Profession Scholarship Program which is a fancy way of saying that I'm in the U.S. Navy (pic) and they are paying for my medical school.

Nothing much else except a lot of people don't believe that I sleep in a hammock. Oh, almost forgot that the building in the background of my site is the "GEB" (General Education Building at UT) and is where I spend most of my day while in class.
